This past weekend I had the opportunity to use my friend’s Canon EOS Rebel T1i that he had been hyping up for months.  After spending 2 days with the camera, I definitely understood where all of his excitement was coming from; I literally had the best experience snapping photos all weekend!  Here are a few test shots I took of the new heardemsay™ buttons which will be available really soon…I promise!  Looking forward to seeing more pictures this week!

Hello Dreamers!

I hope you all are having an inspiring, inspirational and creative day! How exciting is The heardemsay™ Project that I posted the other day?  I can not wait to see what all you creatives come up with. Today has been quite inspirational for me. I have been playing the heardemsay™ campaign video on repeat all morning and afternoon. Despite working on the video and being a part of the concept- still- every time I play it I get amped up all over again, like I’ve never seen it before. When the music hits every creative fiber in my body feels like it starts irrupting – my ideas start churning and I begin to feel like I can do anything- especially everything that people tell me I can’t do.

I think that we all can relate to the #iheardemsay™ campaign. At some point someone in all of our lives has been bold enough to tell us that our dreams can not be accomplished- that our boundless hopes are bigger than anything we could ever tackle. Oh, but how wrong they always are. If we believe that our dreams can happen there is nothing we can not do.

When we first started developing the #iheardemsay™ campaign I started to think of what my “i heardemsay”  was. I am a writer. Since I can remember I have encountered many people who have tried to steer me off of my literary path. One incident that stands out to me most was a high school english teacher of mine who told me that my vocabulary was not big enough. To express my “i heardemsay” I wrote a poem:

i heardemsay

that my vocabulary wasn’t big enough

I told them, well I want to be a writer

They told me, maybe you should find something else to love

I heardemsay I couldn’t master the english language

I told them, I want to be  poet

The next Maya Angelou-

the female Langston Hughes

with the creativity of Baldwin and the complexity of Morrison

They told me, that was something I simply couldn’t do

But they- were only a few

who didn’t understand all that I can do

I was the only one who could dictate what I could do

I heardemsay I could never be a writer

look how little they knew.

What is your “i heardemsay” dreamers? Send in your short stories, poems, drawings of all the things people told you couldn’t do and how you are defying the naysayers to info@heardemsay.com!

Until next time…and until then keep dreaming!

Greetings everyone…hope you all had a great weekend!!! As for us, we spent our weekend preparing for yesterday’s (Sunday) sample sale at the Rose Bowl Flea Market. Since it was our first experience in a marketplace- the pressure of making a good first impression was at an all-time high; from waking up at 4:30 in the morning, to setting up the “perfect” booth, to even worrying about peoples reaction to the brand was the recipe to a nervous breakdown (that I didn’t have)!  Although, we didn’t have any expectations of sales for our merchandise, we simply just wanted to introduce heardemsay™ and connect with the people!

We accomplished our goal; surprisingly enough, so many people responded well to the company, and supported our product!  Which is why we have decided to participate in more…our next stop may be the Silverlake Flea Market!  The humble hustle continues…
